In a world of the social media frenzy and the ways in which we all interact with the digital arena, an understanding of the impact of one's digital presence is fundamental to the modern practitioner in a wide range of fields.
From the Wagatha Christie trial and the steps to anonymise the witnesses in Meghan Markle’s defamation case to the habits of "keyboard warriors" using social networks to encourage terrorism, ignoring this phenomena would be to leave the next generation of lawyers sorely under-prepared for practice of the future.
The weekend will include a panel discussion and presentations from individuals whose day-to-day activities require them to handle secrecy, anonymity and sensitive information.
The weekend will include an advocacy exercise to allow students to practice witness-handling skills in the context of a civil trial with a thematic link to the subject matter of the weekend. There will be an advocacy masterclass as a working demonstration of how technique can materially improve the effectiveness of your advocacy.
