Title: Perverse Not Guilty Verdicts Should Remain Final

His Honour Judge Blair KC (Western Circuit, Senior Circuit Judge and IT Bencher)

The Rt Hon Sir Konrad Schiemann (Judge of the Court of Justice of the EU, 2004-2012 and IT Bencher)

Moderator: Her Honour Deborah Taylor (Former resident judge at Southwark Crown Court, the recorder of Westminster and IT Bencher)

The speakers will consider:

Are perverse verdicts 'a blatant affront to the legal process and the main purpose of the criminal justice system…?' Sir Robin Auld, 2001 Review of the Criminal Courts of England & Wales. Or are they an important safeguard of last resort against wrongful imprisonment and government tyranny?

The event will be delivered in person and online. The session will include an opportunity for Q&A and for post-talk networking.
